Digital Commons EDIC - European Sovereignty Through Digital Commons
What does digital sovereignty look like in practice—and how can Europe achieve it?
The Digital Commons EDIC brings countries together to develop shared digital infrastructure and resources that can strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty. But digital commons are not new. What makes this European approach different, and what problems can it actually solve?
This panel will introduce the DC-EDIC, explore its vision for digital sovereignty, and examine how shared infrastructure, open technologies, and collective governance can contribute to a more resilient, interoperable, and sovereign digital Europe through the eyes of the newly founded organisation and its Member States.
The Digital Commons EDIC is a consortium of five EU member states and seven observers. The goal is to pool resources to connect, deploy and maintain the open-source tools Europe depends on.
