Reticulum: Open Source Unstoppable Networks
Reticulum is an Open Source cryptography-based networking stack for building local and wide-area networks using a multitude of mediums (Radio modems, LoRa radios, Ethernet, Wifi, Serial lines, TCP, UDP, I2P, Software/hardware via stdio/pipes...).
It can continue to operate even in adverse conditions with very high latency and extremely low bandwidth.
Using Reticulum, individuals and communities can create small or large sovereign network segments, with no hierarchical or bureaucratic structures to control/manage them (no kill-switches, surveillance, censorship, manipulation...). Networks that can freely interoperate, associate and disassociate with each other.
In this talk, we propose to cover the following:
- Introduction to Reticulum and how it works
- Implementations and available software/tools/utilities
- Overview of some of the ways it is currently being used by the communities around the world
- Personal experience using/deploying it.
- What the future holds
- How to start using Reticulum and Demo (if time allows)
- Q&A
The speaker is not associated with Reticulum and does not pretend full understanding of Reticulum.
The talk is raising awareness and sharing the information/knowledge about it and how to use it.

Bernard is a community coordinator at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Global Cyber Hub in Luxembourg. He draws on humanitarian-sector experience and a technical background to help connect humanitarian organizations with the open source community. He is an avid advocate of open source software and believes it is in humanity’s best interest when public-interest tools are developed in the open.
