Mukul Karnik is General Manager for OpenSearch at Amazon Web Services, where he helps steward the open-source OpenSearch Project and is responsible for large-scale cloud-native search, log, and security analytics platforms. Mukul has held several roles since joining Amazon in 2005, including serving as engineering director for Amazon QuickSight at the time the service was launched and leading the service and caching infrastructure org that powers Amazon and AWS services. Mukul earned his Master’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. He holds more than 30 patents and has authored several journals and conference papers.
Hariharan Gandhi is a Distributed Systems engineer. Currently serving as the Product Owner for Logging Services at SAP’s Business Technology Platform, Hariharan brings over 11 years of experience in the Software Industry, with a steadfast focus on SAP’s logging/observability needs for the past 8 years. In his previous role as an Architect, Hariharan spearheaded the replatforming of OpenSearch-based logging services to Kubernetes at scale. He holds a Master’s degree in Distributed Software Systems from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He is motivated to share his learnings and insights on leveraging OpenSearch for scalable logging services.
