The central theme of OW2con’23 is "Open Source Software and Digital Commons". (Link to OW2con'2023 main website).
As demonstrated by recent trends and events (e.g. industry mergers and acquisitions, generalization of open source program offices "OSPOs" in large companies, etc.), open source code has become over time a necessary component of the IT industry and a key driver for innovation. Even the most influential actors, either companies or governments, have today embraced open source software and the digital commons.
The open source movement fundamentally integrates values (mutualizing resources, transparency, etc.) which relate to the concept of commons. However, there are still some challenges to tackle to make the open source ecosystem even more sustainable: how IT professionals, political decision makers and communities can better collaborate? What are the relevant business models to encourage? How to better leverage and take advantage of open source for digital sovereignty? How to better organize the IT ecosystem at the European level?
OW2con'23 will address the many current challenges to make open source software a key enabler for competitiveness, digital sovereignty and democracy.
The deadline to submit a presentation proposal is February 26, 2023 (go to CFP page). New extended deadline: MARCH 7 midnight. The CFP is closed now.
We are looking forward to see you at OW2con'23 on 14-15 June 2023!
