This panel will explore the diverse contributions of women in tech, discussing how Python and technology foster inclusivity, innovation, and solutions across different fields in Namibia.
With inclusivity and empowerment as one of its focuses, PyCon Namibia provides an ideal platform for a panel titled "Bridging the Gap: Diversity in Tech through Python." This discussion will address the ongoing need for diversity in tech by bringing together both developers and non-developers, allowing for a comprehensive dialogue on Python's role in fostering industry innovation and diversity in Namibia. Attendees will gain insights into both the opportunities and challenges faced by underrepresented groups, exploring how Python can drive meaningful change.
The objective of this panel is to introduce PyLadies Namibia as a supportive network, promoting diversity through Python, and to highlight the various paths women are taking toward leadership in tech. Our goal is to engage the audience with diverse perspectives from both technical and non-technical roles, underscoring the importance of inclusive practices and demonstrating the wide-ranging impact of Python across different sectors in Namibia.
To achieve this, the panel will discuss four key areas. First, paths to Leadership in Tech will showcase women who have risen to leadership roles through various pathways, both in tech and adjacent fields. Python’s Role in Industry Innovation will highlight Python’s applications across Namibian sectors like business, green hydrogen, and education, showing its contribution to critical advancements. Inclusion through Technology will explore ways to use tech for bridging demographic gaps and creating accessible solutions. Lastly, Non-Traditional Roles in Tech will recognize the contributions of project managers, tech advocates, and product designers roles, that play essential but often overlooked parts in the tech landscape.
By featuring women in development, data science, tech policy, education, and digital innovation, this panel will provide attendees with a richer understanding of Python’s expansive role in advancing diversity and driving industry innovation. It will also encourage attendees to identify areas where they can contribute to bridging gaps within their own communities, helping to build a more inclusive tech ecosystem in Namibia. This panel ultimately seeks to inspire and empower attendees to champion diversity, strengthening the PyCon Namibia community’s commitment to inclusive and innovative tech practices.
