The holiday season can be overwhelming, filled with obligations and competing demands. This session offers a short, values‑based exercise to help participants reconnect with what matters most. Using guided reflection on joy, pride, and fulfillment, attendees will identify their core values and translate them into a simple statement and action plan. By grounding in values, participants can clarify focus, set boundaries, and navigate the season with greater steadiness and meaning.
Led by Dr. Drew B. Mallory, professor of management and organizational behavior and executive coach, this session draws on his expertise in intersectional inclusion, wellness, and executive coaching. Dr. Drew specializes in helping individuals and organizations align actions with values, making this exercise both practical and deeply relevant for navigating stressful times.
The holidays often bring stress, distraction, and pressure to meet others’ expectations. This session, which I use with both students and coachees, provides a structured, values‑based method to pull yourself out of overwhelm and determine where to focus. Drawing on research that shows values predict behaviors, participants will:
-Reflect on moments of joy, pride, and fulfillment to uncover personal values.
-Select 3–5 values that feel most relevant for this season.
-Write a short value statement that can guide decisions and boundaries.
-Translate values into micro‑actions and rituals that restore clarity and connection.
By the end, you will leave with a personalized values statement and a one‑page plan for applying it during the holiday season. This exercise is practical, brief, and adaptable, helping you navigate stress by acting from your values rather than reacting to circumstances.
