Real-World Rust
2025-08-30 , Room 1 (Main Room)

The less people have used Rust, the stronger their opinion on how it gets used in production.
Let's separate fiction from reality and take a cold hard look at what the state of Rust in production really is.

As a Rust consultant at corrode, I have shipped a lot of Rust code to prod.
Funny enough, I still hear on a regular basis that Rust is not used in the industry.
Sure, Microsoft and Google have a few lines of Rust code, but that's it.
That couldn't be further from the truth. Rust is established in mid-sized companies in Germany and beyond.
It's extremely cool to see what this language can do once it gets unleashed and lifted into prod.
Real-world Rust is here and I want to talk about the ups and downs, the issues with the ecosystem, and what people use Rust for in production today.
How does it look like on the other side of the fence?
