DESCRIPTION:For scientists wanting to work with and analyse earth science d
ata\, the standard remains delivering tooling via python packages\, and da
ta via HPC or the cloud. For data siloed on an HPC system\, this presents
a barrier to findability and accessibility. However\, with agentic AI now
widely available\, the cost of learning a new tech stack or toolchain to d
eliver this data has plummeted. \n\nIn this talk\, I'll outline how we uti
lised agentic AI to translate an intake catalog into an interactive\, sing
le page web application\, maximising data discoverability whilst leaning o
n our existing data infrastructure and established Python API's to constra
in the scope\, keep the wrapper thin\, and the code from becoming spaghett
 ified\, unmaintainable AI slop.

DESCRIPTION:Building software is often presented as the ultimate in asynchr
onous collaboration - open a PR\, wait for a review\, work on something el
se\, and come back when it's a good time for you. The reality can often be
... messier. \n\nAs someone who lives in UTC+8\, works in UTC+10\, and col
 laborates globally\, I'll share my experience of why 7AM meetings aren't a
ll bad\, how to deal with the itch to respond to reviews on a Saturday mor
ning\, and how I finally learnt to listen to my wife and learn to switch o
ff when there was no good reason to be on.
