DESCRIPTION:Trust was at the core of the scientific system that led into t
 he replications crisis: We trusted that individual researchers are well tr
 ained\, have expertise in the methods they use\, apply them as intended\, 
 and report the results honestly.\nThis trust was shown to be unwarranted i
 n several cases.\nThe Open Science movements' effort to regain trust is pr
 edominantly centered around methodological rigor and extensive transparenc
 y.\nWhile these efforts are important and commendable\, we argue that this
  focus on methods and openness is probably short-sighted when it comes to 
 dealing with a profound crisis of trust\, even leading to unwanted side ef
 fects.\nTo broaden the perspective on the matter\, we'd like to explore th
 e concept of "trust" in IT security\, draw parallels to the field of psych
 ology\, and propose a framework for the role of trust in the replication c
 risis.
