DESCRIPTION:We believe that improvements to the current academic publishing
system are overdue. Commercial publishing is dominant and so is a strong
focus on rewarding novelty barring the much needed work in replication re
search. Community-based publishing has been discussed as one of the most p
romising ways forward to break the dominance of commercial publishing. We
present Replication Research (R2) as an example of a community journal. We
share the process of working with and for the community\, and how open do
cumentation and inclusive academic exchange can help align the incentive s
 tructure with our scientific ideals.
