oUC2: Majority-centered collaborations: New avenues for Big Team and Open Science initiatives
Nadia S Corral Frias, Alma Jeftic, SergioB
While Big Team and Open Science initiatives have greatly enhanced statistical power and cross-cultural representation in psychological sciences, this has proven to not be enough to curb existing disparities. Specifically, increased Big Team Science projects, cross-cultural sampling, shared authorship, and funding systems are tailored by, and in service of, Minority World research priorities and political agendas. In the wake of heavily limited international research funding, alternative funding and collaboration schemes are required to foster international collaboration. This unconference will aim to determine how we can center Majority World needs and priorities by facilitating “South to South” collaborations. During this time we will seek to determine how researchers from the Majority World can work in all steps of the process, emphasizing research question selection.
