Mikko is the regional community manager at Open Mapping Hub Asia Pacific/ HOTOSM, he is an open mapping advocate, and the founder of MapBeks, an initiative focused on inclusive mapping for LGBTQ+ and health communities. He currently supports grassroots mappers and mapping communities across Asia-Pacific region. He specializes in using Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) to strengthen disaster resilience, community action, and digital inclusion. An award-winning geospatial changemaker, Mikko has led youth-focused, gender-responsive, and climate-driven mapping programs, empowering volunteers to create life-saving data through OpenStreetMap and humanitarian mapping tools.
