Local Chapters & Communities Congress
Laura Mugeha, Michael Montani, Maggie Cawley, Geoffrey Kateregga

After several years of virtual Local Chapters & Communities Congresses, the LCCWG is bringing the Congress back in person at State of the Map. Whether you represent a formally affiliated Local Chapter, lead a local user group, or are just curious about how OSM communities around the world organize themselves, join us to swap stories, share what's working (and what isn't), and help shape what community support should look like.

UN Mappers: Building Local Capacities and Communities to Support Peace with OpenStreetMap
Laura Mugeha, Diego Gonzalez Ferreiro

The UN Maps Programme, an initiative from the Department of Operational Support at the United Nations, provides topographic maps, operational geo-information, search and navigation tools, and imagery and street-level base maps to peacekeeping and humanitarian actors in UN mission areas. UN Maps has established a community of OpenStreetMap (OSM) data contributors called UN Mappers. The UN Mappers community is a collective of open mapping enthusiasts dedicated to building accurate, crowdsourced geospatial data to support peacekeeping and humanitarian missions on the ground.
The session will provide updates about the UN Maps programme and the UN Mappers community, focusing on our co-created pilot initiative that aims to build sustainable and community-owned geospatial data and capacity building for OSM/open data contributors, the UN Maps Ambassadors and Chapters. We hope to discuss lessons learned, challenges, and opportunities for collaboration to further this initiative.

OSMF Board AMA
Laura Mugeha, Héctor Ochoa Ortiz

Join the OSMF Board for our Ask Us Anything session. The session will start with a short update presentation from the Board, and then we will switch to an open discussion with the community. Questions can come from the room or from community submissions gathered ahead of the event, on recent work, current priorities, and future plans.
If you're not sure what the Board actually does, this is the session to come to. Find out what the Foundation does and doesn't do, what it can and can't do, and how you can get involved. The Board is committed to openness and to engaging with the community: not just here, but year-round. Ask us here, ask us in the hallway, ask us online.
