DESCRIPTION:Starting out mapping can feel scary\, especially if one has lit
tle or no prior knowledge about the tools\, concepts and workflows of crea
ting a map. OpenStreetMap\, as a collaborative project\, is welcoming ever
y new mapper with open hands and tries to help and guide new contributors
by offering mapping tools that are well suited also for beginners. This wo
rkflow showcases some of these tools\, in particular the iD editor\, the d
efault map editor on openstreetmap.org. The basics of mapping are shown in
a few examples of common mapping situations. Also covered are the ins and
outs of the OSM community\, resources where to find help\, as well as the
most important concepts of OpenStreetMap's data and tagging model.
