DESCRIPTION:The Ramani Zetu Sauti Zetu project is built on the foundation o
f the Ramani Huria project\, which set a precedent for community-based map
ping to enhance flood resilience in Dar es Salaam. Ramani Huria empowered
communities\, local government\, and emergency responders to create and ut
ilize open locally verified spatial data to identify flood-prone areas\, m
ap drainage infrastucture and enhance disaster preparedness plans and resp
onse.\n\nThe project carries this legacy forward while expanding its scope
both geographically and strategically. Whereas Ramani Huria focused on ma
pping and community engagement\, the new initiative introduces critical el
ements that enable communities to act on data. This includes supporting th
e development of community-based early warning systems such as Sirens\, re
pairing drains\, designing localized disaster preparedness plans\, stronge
r coordination with government and humanitarian actors\, and awareness cam
 paigns to drive behavior change.
