Docker made containers usable and it has the mindshare, but it isn't the only containerization option we have! This talk is a working tour of Podman: what it is, how it fits into (and differs from) the Docker workflow, how to use it in real environments, and a couple of short war stories.
We'll start from the basics: what a container is and the history of containers. Then we'll walk through some of Podman's features. From there, we'll get into practical matters: building images, running services, user-space networking, file-ownership, and a bit more!
This isn't a sales pitch or a call to use Podman over Docker, it's just an overview of an alternative project from an enthusiastic user!
