Olaf Janssen
Olaf Janssen is the Open Data & Wikimedia coordinator at KB, the national library of the Netherlands. In this role he stimulates and facilitates the collaboration between the collections, knowledge, open data and employees of the KB on the one hand, and the projects of the Wikimedia movement on the other, focusing on Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia.
He is also an active volunteer for these projects.
Before working on Wikimedia projects, he was a pioneer in the early years of Europeana and one of the founders of The European Library.

In this presentation we show the added value of putting images and metadata of digitised collection highlights of the KB, national library of the Netherlands, into the Wikimedia infrastructure. By putting our collection highlights into Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia, dozens of new functionalities have been added. As a result of Wikifying this collection, you can now do things with these highlights that were not possible before.
