DESCRIPTION:Oral history is a traditional\, informal method of conserving\,
remembering\, citing and glorifying\nor sometimes criticizing the past ev
ents by a community through the generations by just telling\nthe stories o
r events in a simple or in an exaggerated manner to the new generations. O
n the\nOn the other hand it is a tool of historical research in which a re
 searcher systematically gathers\,\ninterprets\, preserves\, analyzes and p
resents the primary historical information often from a\nmarginalized or s
ubaltern community through the oral conversation\, recorded interviews\,\n
narratives\, memories\, and sometimes by observations of particular object
s available with a\ncommunity.\nNevertheless\, the traditional society and
caste-based communities in Rajasthan are highly\ndependent on the oral tr
aditional methods of preserving their caste\, race\, language\, geographic
al\narea\, religion\, profession or livelihood\, and rulers’ history thr
ough old generations. These old\nGenerations of grandparents usually tell
these historical or sometimes mythological stories to the\nnew generations
before going to bed and after having dinner\, by folk-cultural ways\, mus
ic\,\npoems\, songs\, proverbs\, and general narrations of the past events
. This practice of record keeping was started by King Akbar in the 16th ce
ntury\, and the first mardumshumari (census) was conducted by Akbar.\nThes
e pundits are the main record keeper of each Hindu family of northern Indi
a who\napproaches to them and provides data. These pundits often come to t
he villages and correct their\nfamily history sheets. They are called ‘j
aga’ because they explain old events in nights.\nThe serious concern is
that the traditional method of preserving history is vanishing very fast d
ue\nto overuse of ICT gadgets by the present generations and showing any i
nterest in the past events\nof family\, caste\, area\, religion or the sta
