Session
Around the world, Indigenous communities are reclaiming their economic sovereignty by embracing new tools for exchange and empowerment. Bitcoin, with its open and borderless design, resonates deeply with traditions of collective resource stewardship and community trust. Far from being “late adopters,” these communities often show how circular economies can thrive when technology aligns with cultural values.
This talk will explore real-world examples of Indigenous communities in Latin America and beyond experimenting with Bitcoin as a medium of exchange, savings, and empowerment. Alexandra Navarro will highlight the lessons these communities offer the world: how grassroots adoption can overcome barriers of infrastructure, how tradition and innovation can coexist, and why the path to total Bitcoin adoption may begin not in corporate boardrooms, but in the wisdom of the oldest communities.
