Deanna Heikkinen
Deanna Heikkinen is an American educator and homeschool advocate with a doctorate in education and master’s degrees in history and anthropology. A longtime proponent of liberty-minded, classical education, Deanna has also been engaged with the Bitcoin movement for many years. She is the author of "Shells to Satoshi: The Story of Money and the Rise of Bitcoin," which explores the evolution of money and Bitcoin from both historical and anthropological perspectives. Deanna is writing children’s books on these subjects as well. Since moving to El Salvador in 2023 to live on a Bitcoin standard, she has consulted with Bitcoin Beach, helping to launch the first Bitcoin Circular Economy Summit and developing the ABCs of Bitcoin curriculum. Deanna is currently focused on expanding awareness
of how circular economies advance Bitcoin adoption and individual sovereignty worldwide.

The Money Wisdom Project is a startup nonprofit founded by Dr. Deanna Heikkinen, an educator, curriculum developer, and published author whose career spans teaching, curriculum design, Bitcoin education, and grant writing. The organization is in its launch phase, focusing on developing and distributing children's books about the history of money, alongside age-appropriate curriculum packets for teachers in primary and secondary education.
Dedicated to unbiased, accessible economic accessible economic education, The Money Wisdom Project seeks to empower schools and teachers with engaging, free resources that explore the evolution of money from ancient trade to digital currencies like Bitcoin. Additionally, materials will be translated and distributed to Bitcoin circular economies as well as public libraries around the world. This session will introduce the vision, the startup journey, and the innovative approach to decentralized curriculum distribution for global classrooms.
History’s most transformative shifts, like the adoption of agriculture, the invention of the wheel, and the spread of Christianity, show that lasting change comes from the ground up. This session draws parallels between these grassroots innovations and global Bitcoin adoption, emphasizing that bottom-up movements, driven by individuals and communities seeking better lives, consistently outperform top-down mandates. By exploring how Bitcoin circular economies mirror history’s most successful models of diffusion, this talk makes the case for empowering communities as the true engine of sustainable Bitcoin adoption.
