Participants will better understand how the digital space is used to shape and propagate gender-dominant narratives, and how feminist activists and organizations in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Syria are investing in that space to create a counter-narrative to mobilize for equality, inclusivity, and non-discrimination. The session is also intended to enable participants and panelists to learn about opportunities the digital space offers to gain power, resist sexism and patriarchy and mobilize for social change.
نظراً للارتباط الوثيق بين الفضاء الرقمي بكل من إدامة وتعطيل الآراء المعيارية والمبنية اجتماعياً بشأن الهويات والأدوار الجنسانية، تسعى هذه الجلسة (90 دقيقة) إلى خوض مناقشة مفتوحة حول دور الفضاء الرقمي في تأطير السرديّات حول النوع الاجتماعي.
من خلال مشاركة تجارب وقصص الناشطين من المغرب وتونس ومصر وسوريا، سيستكشف المتحدّثون والمشاركون كيف يُشكّل الإنترنت أحياناً بيئة حاضنة للخطاب الذكوري والمناهض للنسوية، وكيف يتمّ تخصيص المساحة نفسها من قبل الجماعات والأفراد لاكتساب القوة لمواجهة التحيّز الجنسي وخطاب الكراهية، وتعطيل الخطاب القمعي الذي يهيمن عليه الذكور.
ستناقش الجلسة مواضيع تتعلق بالتالي:
- كيف يُحدّد الفضاء الرقمي السرديات حول النوع الاجتماعي؟ كيف تؤثر السرديات على الأعراف والممارسات الاجتماعية في كل سياق؟
- ما هي الحركات المعنيّة بالمساواة بين الجنسَيْن واستراتيجيات الناشطين وأدواتهم لبناء سرديّة مضادة وتسليط الضوء على الهويات المهمّشة؟

Asmaa is the Fund’s MENA program director. She has joined the Fund in January 2016 as the Program Officer for North Africa. Prior to this, she worked with the Human Rights National Council in Morroco as Advisor to the president on youth and civil society and held the position of Deputy coordinator of the national human rights action plan within the Human rights information, documentation, and training center. From 2004 to 2006, she worked with the Moroccan Equity and Reconciliation Commission as the head of the Documentation and Records Management Unit. In addition, Asmaa also worked with several human rights organizations in Morocco. Asmaa holds a bachelor's degree in Information Sciences from the school of information sciences in Rabat and a Masters in Human rights from the University of Essex in the UK. She speaks French, Arabic, and English.
