To bring specialized heritage reporting to the center of conversation and prompt a dialogue bring around how digital tools can be used to promote heritage protection and the role of journalism within that context. We would like participants attending to engage with us or other media outlets working on heritage stories consistently in a discussion on how to develop digital tools to support heritage reporting and outreach of that work.

كيف يمكننا استخدام الأدوات الرقمية للقيام بذلك؟
تتمتع منصة "ولاد البلد" بسجلّ حافل عمره 12 عامًا في إنشاء ونشر الأخبار المحلية خارج القاهرة. وقد عملت منصّتها الرئيسية "باب مصر"، على مدار العامين الماضيين، على الإجابة على هذه الأسئلة من خلال الاستفادة من معرفة وسائل الإعلام والشبكات المحلية.
ستُطلع فاطمة فرج (ناشرة باب مصر) ومحمد شعير (رئيس تحرير باب مصر) الجمهور على هذه الاعتبارات. وسنقدم ثلاثة أمثلة ملموسة عن قصص تم الإبلاغ عنها ويتم تتبّعها من قبل صحافيّي باب مصر.
من خلال استخدام هذه الأمثلة للعمل على أرض الواقع داخل المجتمعات المحلية، سنسلّط الضوء على مجالات الضعف والتحديات في تطوير ونشر التقارير المتعلّقة بالتراث والتي تركز على المجتمع (15 دقيقة).
Veteran journalist, media innovator, and senior executive, Fatemah Farag is the Founder and Director of Welad Elbalad Media Services LTD, a company dedicated to community media development and media excellence in Egypt. She is the first Arab woman and first Egyptian to have been voted to the Executive Committee and Board of WAN IFRA and is the former Arab Region Director for WAN IFRA’s Women in News Program (WIN).
Currently WINs Senior Consultant for Strategic Partnerships, Farag is also a World Editors Forum (WEF) board member and currently holds the position of Associate Director for Gender Coordination at the American University in Cairo (AUC).
In addition to these titles she is a Harvard Neiman Visiting Fellow (2016).
Before establishing Welad ElBalad Media Services, Ms. Farag was the founding chief editor of the English Edition of Al Masry Al Youm. Before 2009, she divided her professional time between the newsroom and journalism training and education
