The session will introduce participants to Bayanat, an open-source data management software created by Syrians for use in human rights scenarios. It seeks to empower users with free software that can be self-managed and is designed to work in Arabic - not merely translated into the language. At the end of the session, tech-savy participants will be capable of installing an instance of Bayanat for their own testing/use. Others will have the opportunity to further engage with SJAC should they require assistance.

"بيانات" ( Bayanat ) هو تطبيق مفتوح المصدر لإدارة البيانات العلائقية، يتيح لموثقي انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان الحفاظ على بياناتهم وتحليلها ومشاركتها بأمان لأغراض المناصرة والادعاء والصحافة.
تم تصوّر تطبيق " بيانات " وترميزه واختباره و تنفيذه بالكامل من قبل مواطنين سوريين. من خلال العمل على العدالة الانتقالية والتوثيق في سوريا، حدد أعضاء فريق المركز السوري للعدالة والمساءلة نقاط الضعف في أدوات إدارة الوثائق الحالية، والفجوة بين التوثيق والمساءلة الحقيقية التي يسعى " بيانات " إلى سدّها.
ستُعرّف هذه الجلسة المشاركين على التطبيق، كما ستوفّر منتدى للاستعلام عن حالات استخدامه. علاوة على ذلك، ستتاح للمشاركين أيضًا الفرصة لطرح الأسئلة حول النشر وترحيل البيانات الحالية واستدامة المنصّة.
SJAC's IT Manager "Tarek" will present Bayanat. He manages SJAC's Data Analysis team and assists in creating and testing new features in Corroborator, Bayanat's precursor. In late 2019 he took an active role in the management of SJAC's IT activities and has since overseen the development of Bayanat.
