This session will introduce the Leafcutter platform to the digital security community, discussing use cases and showcasing how different data sources coming together arms the security community with more accurate intelligence for providing preventative support to civil societies.
At the end of the session, participants will have a richer understanding of how different data sources within the civil society community -helpdesk data, OONI data, MISP, etc- coming together more accurately equips helpdesks, security professionals, researchers, etc, to predict, understand and respond to threat within the community
During the session, we will make a detailed presentation of the Leafcutter platform; how it was conceived, why it is needed, how it supports threat intelligence and then a practical walk-through of the platform showing movement of data from various data sources into a central pool where they are cleaned and made ready for use by the community. We will also discuss nuances with using a platform like this - privacy, security, accuracy of the data, etc.
The second half of the session will be spent giving participants a hands-on experience of the platform. Volunteer participants can sign up and do a live testing of the Leafcutter platform. During this time, we will also ask participants for reviews and ways in which they think Leafcutter can be improved to make it more useful for them.

سيُخصص النصف الثاني من الندوة لتزويد المشاركين بخبرة عمليّة بالمنصة. ويمكن للمشاركين المتطوّعين الاشتراك واختبار منصّة ""ليف كاتر"" (Leafcutter) بشكل مباشر. وفي هذا الوقت، سنطلب من المشاركين تقديم الملاحظات والآراء لتحسين ""ليف كاتر"" (Leafcutter) فتصبح أكثر فائدة لهم.
سنعمل على توثيق هذه التعليقات وندعو المشاركين ليكونوا جزءًا من مجتمع ""ليف كاتر"" (Leafcutter) من خلال تسجيلهم باستخدام النموذج المتاح. فيصبحون أوّل من يعلمون بأيّ ميزة جديدة أو وظائف إضافيّة وأنشطة ""ليف كاتر"" (Leafcutter) الأخرى.

Josh is a technologist, digital rights advocate, and a co-founder of Center for Digital Resilience (CDR). He oversees the development and implementation of the CDR Link platform, the Waterbear data collection and analysis platform, and other aspects of CDR’s technical infrastructure. He was previously advocacy director at Access Now and campaign director at Free Press, where he helped lead global efforts to protect free expression online, fight for privacy, secure strong open internet rules, and rein in government surveillance.
