In response to ongoing protests following the death in police custody of Jhina (Mahsa) Amini on September 16, the Islamic Republic of Iran started various means of censoring, disrupting and shutting down access to the internet. This comes with the backdrop of mass arrests and forced disappearances of journalists, activists, and members of civil society. At the same time, digital rights activists from around the globe have scrambled to support Iranians to circumvent the blocks and keep channels of communication open in solidarity with their struggle.
In this session, we will talk with Iranian feminist and digital rights activists about how protestors are using the internet to mobilize, network, and amplify voices of dissent in Iran. We will also discuss the use of shutdowns, throttling, censorship and other tactics, and ways digital rights activists are organizing to overcome these abuses of power.

ردّاً على الاحتجاجات المستمرة عقب وفاة الشابة مهسا أميني أثناء الحجز، قطعت الحكومة الإيرانية الإنترنت وحجبت جميع منصات التواصل الاجتماعي مثل تويتر وفيسبوك وإنستجرام التي كانت بمثابة محفّز لتبادل المعلومات ونشرالحركة الاحتجاجية. يذكر أن هذه ليست المرة الأولى التي يقطع فيها الإنترنت بالتزامن مع الاحتجاجات المناهضة للنظام في إيران، فهذه المرة الثالثة منذ بداية عام 2022.
وفي الوقت نفسه، سارع الناشطين/ات في مجال الحقوق الرقمية من جميع أنحاء العالم إلى دعم المتظاهرين/ات الإيرانيين/ات للتحايل على الحظر وفتح وسائل الاتصال تضامناً مع نضالهم/ن المستمر.
سنتحدث أثناء هذه الجلسة مع بعض النساء الإيرانيات والناشطين/ات في مجال الحقوق الرقمية حول طريقة إستخدام المتظاهرين/ات الإنترنت لتعزيز ورفع أصوات المعارضين/ات في إيران.
وسنناقش أيضا إستخدام أساليب قطع الانترنت والخنق والرقابة والدوكسينغ وغيرها من التكتيكات التي تنتهجها الأنظمة الاستبدادية، وأساليب يجب أن يتبعها الناشطين/ات في مجال الحقوق الرقمية للتغلب على تجاوزات السلطة
