Cycling Research Board Annual Meeting
Welcome to the Abstract Submission for Cycling Research Board Annual Meeting 2026
The bicycle has long been recognized as a powerful tool for understanding and shaping urban mobility. However, the true potential of cycling research extends far beyond the technical and practical aspects of this mode of transportation. CRBAM' 26 theme, "Place, People, Politics and the Reimagination of Space." seeks to bring together interdisciplinary perspectives that leverage the study of cycling to unlock deeper insights into the challenges and opportunities of social change. The meeting is aimed towards building a constructive environment for supporting 'early-stage researchers' (or self-defined open and curious minds) through ideas and feedback. We invite contributions from scholars across a range of disciplines, including (but not limited to) urban planning, transportation studies, sociology, geography, anthropology, public health, and political science.
Info on Sessions (Please read carefully before choosing)
The conference has three types of sessions- Talk, Workshop and Poster* in 90 minute blocks.
-Workshop: Features 1–2 presenters with short research presentations (approx 10 mins each) and structured interactive group discussions (approx 30 mins each)
-Talk: Short, back-to-back 3-4 speaker presentations (approx 7-9 minutes each). Presentations are followed by a critical group discussion, focusing on elements of the research where feedback is most valuable (approx 60 mins total).
-Poster*- Posters are publicly displayed for participants to study during a coffee/lunch break. Presenters get time to explain their poster (7-9 minutes), after which the audience has the opportunity to give written feedback in the form of post-it notes on the poster.
This year's meeting is held at the University of Ghent, Belgium from 16-18th September
