glibc Dev Clinic: Write Your First Patch With Us
06-14, 10:15–11:35 (Europe/Prague), A218 | Workshops (capacity 20)

Roll up your sleeves and prepare to write and submit your first glibc patch! Last year, I gave a talk about this. This year we go hands on.

The goal: produce small, incremental improvements and get new names on the commit log.

We will pick the low hanging fruit first: typos, doc fixes, improving existing tests and writing new ones. Experienced C hackers are also welcome. Perhaps we fix a bug or three?

I'll provide:

  • A solid introduction to glibc and its codebase
  • A list of well defined, small, individual problems for everyone to solve (some very easy)
  • Page sized cheat-sheets on how to work on each of the problems

You'll bring: A Linux laptop with the necessary tools installed (I'll provide details in advance), some understanding of git, and maybe a bit of comfort with C and Makefiles.
