ROS on fedora IoT
06-13, 15:30–16:05 (Europe/Prague), E112 (capacity 156)

Robots is one of the biggest use-cases for edge.
From fire fighting robots to manufacturing, robots has proved their worth in many cases.
ROS (Robot operating system) is modern age robotics development platform with its use ranging from research to enterprise grade application.
Unfortunately adpotibility is restricted as deployment and maintainability of ROS is pain due the way it is packaged making it available to only few distributions and that too tied to particular release.
Fedora IoT users are still left out to use the power of ROS.
The main aim is to streamline ROS deployment on Fedora IoT using bootable containers

Key points and takeaway:
1. Resources - Base image of Fedora IoT with ROS, deployment script to build deployable image
2. Containerized approach so layering additional packages is as easy as writing a Containerfile,
3. Building deployable image is as easy as "podman run.."
4. Reliable upgrade and rollback mechanism
