Europeana 2021 Proposal Submission form

We are delighted to announce the launch of our call for proposals for Europeana 2021!

Like last year, 70% of the conference programme will be open to professionals working in and around the cultural heritage sector to share expertise, knowledge and experience in varied sessions.

As the cultural heritage sector looks to recover, rebuild and grow in post-pandemic times, Europeana 2021 conference aims to raise voices from across the sector to empower digital transformation and explore the role digital cultural heritage plays in today and tomorrow’s world. Building on the success of last year’s virtual conference, we are excited to be creating another designed-for-digital event taking place between 10 -12 November to inspire and inform you.

We want to open up our platform to new - as well as familiar - voices and themes and give the stage to exciting formats.
Therefore we are inviting you to submit your proposals for an interactive and engaging webinar, workshop, session or intervention to be held during the conference.

Selection criteria

Our selection criteria is designed to enable a broad and diverse selection.

In order to open up the conference to new voices, we want to facilitate a more inclusive and equitable CfP by allocating a fixed budget to make payments to those submissions who need financial support to take part.
On the submission form we ask applicants to identify if they need financial support and how much.

The submissions will go through the initial selection process without this information being seen, and the final decision will be made by the programme committee.
The selection process will begin when the call for proposals opens. We will review proposals in order of submission.

The selection committee might contact you, before or after the first notice, with a request to merge or combine your proposal with another proposal. This will only be done if there is overlap between the proposals.

The proposals will be reviewed on the following:

  • To what extent does the proposal make it clear what outcomes the participants should be able to get out of the session?
  • To what extent does the proposal speak to, involve, or collaborate with one or more of the conference target audiences?
  • To what extent does the proposal offer something interesting, useful, innovative, or important to the event?
  • To what extent do the topics proposed represent diversity in the themes?

Once the proposal is submitted you will receive a confirmation email - make sure you check your spam folder if you don't have this message in your primary inbox.

If the proposal has been accepted for the final selection, you can expect to receive a first notice mid September 2021.
If the proposal has been selected you will receive a final notice and further guidance mid October 2021.
For the proposals that have not been accepted you will receive brief feedback on the decision.
