Congreso Internacional «Una Filología para el Siglo XXI»

International Conference: A Philology for the 21st Century

This conference invites reflection on the present and future of philology through three main thematic strands:

Narratives, Cultures, and Societies. Language, as a human activity, manifests in diverse linguistic forms shaped by the cultural plurality of their communities. Literature and other narrative forms articulate and transmit ideas and emotions, deeply embedded in cultural identities. How do today’s linguistic and cultural diversities interact with forces of standardization? In what ways do narratives shape worldviews and societal engagement?

Philology and Digital Technologies. In an era transformed by information and communication technologies, what role should philology play? How are digital tools currently being used in philological research and teaching? Can these technologies help reinforce the interpretative and analytical value of philology in understanding language, literature, and culture?

Philology and Transdisciplinarity. Philology must continue to open itself to collaboration beyond the humanities and social sciences, engaging also with the natural and formal sciences. Historically interdisciplinary, philology now faces the challenge of broadening its methodological dialogue with fields to which it has been less connected. How can it evolve into a truly transdisciplinary field?
