Publishing maps with GeoServer 3
2026-07-08 , HoC Grey
Language: English

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to install and configure GeoServer 3 yourself, and how to publish your own vector or raster data as a beautifully styled map layer.

GeoServer is one of the most popular web mapping services in the world and has recently been updated. This workshop offers an accessible, hands-on introduction to setting up and using GeoServer 3, and has been designed for participants with no prior experience. However, it is useful to have a basic understanding of GIS concepts. You are also welcome to bring your own map data that you'd like to publish!

We will start with a demonstration of the GeoServer installation and configuration, where we'll also discuss system requirements and installing extensions. This will be followed by hands-on exercises in publishing spatial data (vector, raster, and databases), configuring layers and layer groups, and styling them (symbology).

The workshop will generally be held in English, but Dutch-speaking support will also be available in the room.
