Alongside this, I work as a journalist, covering digital autonomy and using geospatial analysis as base for reporting. The promise of integrating AI in Geo is big, but how to navigate the rapidly developing AI world? How to filter AI nonsense from actual use value? And most importantly: how to do it open source?
In this talk, we provide a working example of an open source web-GIS that uses an LLM to query spatial data and display the results. We discuss challenges related to: LLM hallucination, consistency of results, generating valid SQL queries and guard-railing the LLM.
