Blockchain Fairy Tales: What if Happily Ever After is not Guaranteed?
Idioma: English (mozilla)

The mission of the Columbia Digital Storytelling Lab is to explore new forms and functions of storytelling. In that spirit, Blockchain Fairy Tales is an immersive storytelling experience made by many. This project explores a shared visioning of the future through collective world-building and decentralized technologies. The project invites participants to step into an enchanted world powered by collaborative storytelling, play and design. In this special session at Mozilla Fest, those formerly known as the audience will become architects of the futures. Together they will craft a world that connects seven generations over space and time. Over the course of two hours their collective ideas will come to life as a series of co-created stories as they face the question: What if Happily Ever After is not guaranteed?

¿Cuál es el objetivo y/o el resultado de tu sesión?:

Blockchain Fairytales will facilitate conversation, reflection, and action around climate change. We will use world-building methods to imagine and implement sustainable future plans, and creativity to reframe dread and existential fears. Collectively, we will explore NFTs and Blockchains as a digital form of guidance for proceeding generations. It is our hope that these sessions will provide participants with the opportunity to co-imagine, reframing an individualist lens to a collective vision, seven generations into our future.

¿Por qué has elegido ese espacio? ¿Cómo se ajusta tu sesión a la descripción del espacio?:

We aligned Blockchain Fairytales with Sustainability & Climate Change because it connects to our core question: what if happily ever after is not guaranteed? We are actively exploring how to address the environmental and cultural impact of cryptocurrency. DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Orgs) point to new forms of collectives, what if BCF could form its own collective? What if DAOs could be harnessed to organize action and empower social impact? Together, we could become architects of our futures.

What if we design ways to speculate and create around the systematic threats of our world? What if we use smart contracts and cryptocurrency to set new precedents? BCF examines the core of crypto through a speculative lens, subverts the current value system of cryptocurrency, and uplifts shared community values. What if our voices could be part of a social system that challenges the notion of decentralizing the most hierarchical systems we have?

¿Cómo vas a hacer frente si varía el número de participantes en tu sesión? ¿Y si asisten 30 participantes? ¿Y si son 3?:

Blockchain Fairy Tales is designed to work with a varying number of participants. We’ve run versions of BCF with attendance ranging from 12 to 100. The experience takes place across Zoom and Miro boards and is flexible. This is similar to the way we staged Project Immerse at Moz Fest in 2021, there is space for a large collective experience and an intimate experience with smaller groups.

¿Qué pasará después del MozFest? Esperamos que muchos esfuerzos y discusiones continúen después de MozFest. Comparte cualquier idea que tengas sobre cómo continuar el trabajo de tu sesión.:

After MozFest, we plan to continue exploring tokens and their relationship to
participation, platforms, and socialization. We plan to build out a DAO and reframe how currency is used to convert value. What if participation and socialization were a kind of currency?

We are always experimenting with new forms of storytelling and world-building, but BCF gives us the opportunity to pass on shared values. This is an episodic series that will deal with immediate threats to our existence. The network of stories will differ thematically, but all will explore cryptocurrency and Blockchains as a new system of organization and collective sense-making.
