OFA Symposium 2025: Open Technology Impact in Uncertain Times

Fireside Chat: Marcela Mattiuzzo - Interoperability as a Remedy
18/11/2025 , Main Room

In conversation with Professor Nicolo Zingales, technology expert and competition lawyer Marcela Mattiuzzo will join the OFA Symposium for an engaging session exploring openness in the Brazilian market, looking at how open banking and competition policy are shaping the open technology landscape in Brazil. Marcela will discuss landmark cases including the Apple-Mercado Livre dispute over anticompetitive behaviour in Apple's App Store, as well as draw from her research on open finance and the latest legislative proposals to examine the idea of interoperability as a tool for remediation. The session will also examine the broader implications of competition policy in the region's digital economy, drawing parallels with what is happening in other regions and its implications for open technology governance globally.

Marcela Mattiuzzo specialises in technology and in competition law, and is partner at VMCA. She holds a PhD in Commercial Law and a Masters in Constitutional Law from the University of São Paulo.
