Call for proposals - PyConES Barcelona 2026

This year PyConES will be celebrated in Barcelona from November 6th to 8th.

The call for proposals will be open until Sunday May 17th 2026 23:59h CEST.

We are looking for a variety of talks on technical and non-technical topics. We are looking for proposals with different levels of complexity, both from less experienced professionals and from leaders in their field.

If you're wondering if you can do this, the answer is yes! If you have a topic that interests you, then we are interested too!

Recommendations for your proposal

It is important that you present your idea in a clear way, giving the necessary information for those who will review it to fully understand your proposal.

If you have never spoken in public before, presenting a proposal that reflects all the details of your idea can be confusing or challenging. If you need help preparing your proposal, you can email charlas@2026.es.pycon.org so the programme team can help you with your questions or to review your proposal.

Structure of your proposal

As an example, you can use this simple structure as a reference:

  • Context and definition of the problem
  • How your proposal contributes to solving the problem
  • Take-home message
  • Target audience

Avoid repeating yourself! If the idea or theme is already clear in the title, there is no need to repeat it in the summary. Try to include factors that make your proposal special and unique, avoid sensationalist headlines and phrases that try to create hype without adding real value to the content.

Types of proposals

  • Talks: 35 minutes + 5 minutes of questions and answers.
  • Workshops: 90 minutes in total.

To give you some advice, some proposals that tend to be very popular around here are those that:

  • Have a social focus, seeking to provide something positive to the community or society.
  • Are transversal, with an impact on different fields or professional areas.
  • Are inspirational, dealing with your experience with Python and how it has positively influenced in your personal life or professional career.

Topics

Topics are open as long as they are directly related to Python.

As an idea, you can talk about:

  • Python core and packaging
  • Web development
  • DevOps, cloud and infrastructure
  • Internet of things and embedded
  • Testing and security
  • Education and ethics
  • Community, culture and leadership
  • Python for videogames, art and expression
  • Data science and data engineering
  • Machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Scientific computing
  • Any other topic that you find interesting!

Additional considerations

  • It is possible to send more than one proposal per person
  • We do accept talks with several people as speakers, with a maximum of 2 people for talks and 3 people for tutorials
  • Please note that if co-speakers are added after the call for proposals has closed, only those speakers who were added previously will have their conference ticket covered
  • You will be notified whether or not your proposal has been accepted
  • Proposals are welcome in Spanish, Catalan and English

Selection criteria

Proposals will be evaluated jointly by the event organizing team and members of the Python Spain association.

The distribution of sessions by topic will be uniform to avoid any of them having more prominence than the rest. The evaluation criteria will be, among others, its originality, the correct structuring of its content, the relevance of the proposed topic and the adequacy to our conference.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to write to charlas@2026.es.pycon.org.

Thank you very much!
