Spatial Humanities 26

The Spatial Humanities Conference Association

We are pleased to invite you to the Spatial Humanities Conference – Artificial Intelligence and Geotechnologies for Human Experiences, scheduled for 23 to 25 September 2026, held at the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. This event offers the opportunity to experience a city with 2,000 years of history and a UNESCO World Heritage site (the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte in Braga). Spatial analysis is an essential component of the digital humanities and a progressively significant methodology for research in several fields, such as history, geography, literature, archaeology, architecture, economy, geology, and sociology. This conference serves as an international forum for academics and practitioners to share innovations and issues regarding the theoretical and technological influence in spatial humanities research. The conference is open to multiple topics, with special regard to GIS (Geographic Information Systems), immersive technology (augmented reality and virtual reality), story maps, artificial intelligence, digital mapping, deep mapping, social media and networking, education, and mobile technologies. We cordially encourage you to share this event within your institutions, professional networks, and social media platforms to engage a wider audience. Additional information concerning registration and abstract submissions are available at https://www.geografia.uminho.pt/spatial-humanities/

Submissions close on 2026-01-15 23:59 (Europe/Lisbon), 2 months, 1 week from now.
